The active substance in Autan is DEET. DEET keeps insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, horseflies, leeches, fleas and mites at distance. The repellent effect of DEET lasts five to eight hours and is dependent on the amount of used DEET, but also of the degree to which you sweat.
