Mepitel is a silicone wound contact material not adhered to the wound bed. Even in difficult conditions where the fluid is sticky or dry, the Safetac technology guarantees (based on the properties of the soft silicone layer), minimal pain and virtually no trauma at dressing changes. Mepitel contains no glue but the silicone material still feels sticky to the touch and adheres by itself to the skin and to other materials such as gauze and gloves. Thanks to this characteristic, it can be used to fix things, for example, skin grafts, or loose skin. Mepitel has a wide-meshed structure through which excess fluid can pass easily, and can be incorporated into an absorbent secondary dressing. Thanks to the horizontal permeability of the silicone layer is softening of the wound edges up to a minimum. Mepitel is not harmful to healthy skin.
